Grandma's Basement Apartment

Vacation Day 1

Today was the looooong awaited departure date for our summer vacation. Believe it or not, Naveen and I have never been on a real actual "vacation" together. We have gone to Minnesota to visit and gone camping on weekends. But never have we packed up for a week and done nothing but explore and enjoy each other's company - not even a honeymoon! So here we go - hopefully we don't kill each other.

In my excitement to get to South Dakota I planned to have us leave Omaha after work on Friday and drive a few hours to get a head start.

Driving through Nebraska on Highway 92, or any other highway in NE for that matter can be summed up in a few words. Corn, hay, hill, corn, corn, corn, is that a dog in the road? HOLY CRAP it's a herd of cute baby cows chillin in the middle of the road. Corn, tree, hill, corn, dry river bed.

We ended up driving a bit farther than I anticipated and we ended up spending the night in Broken Bow, NE. It is dark and I don't really know what's here, but there is a town square gazebo that looks  straight up Stars Hollow from the Gilmore Girls and the hotel we are staying at (Arrow Hotel) looks like a Grandma's  basement apartment complete with the 19 1/2 inch RCA TV with a remote that works only at certain angles and plush grandma chair.
