Global Kitchen Challenge - España

What better way to "visit" Spain than to enjoy Sangria and Paella?

I have made Sangria a few times in the past, each time with different ingredients. This is a list of what is in the goodness in the above picture.

  • 1 Bottle red wine
  • 1 Orange cut into slices
  • 1 Lime cut into wedges
  • 1 Green Apple cut into wedges
  • 1/2 Cup Pineapple cut into chunks
  • Splash of Apricot Brandy
  • Splash of Gin
  • Splash of OJ
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar if desired
  • Ginger Ale or Sprite if you like it on the sweeter side
*berries are also good in Sangria

Paella is not considered a national dish in Spain, but rather a regional one. It is a rice dish that originated on the east coast of Spain in Valencia. Paella is commonly made with rabbit, chicken, duck, snails, or seafood. Meat kinda freaks me out so I made a veggie version of this recipe. It took FOREVER, but was delicious!

I have that exact same pitcher. I call it Mr. Koolaid. :)

Your paella looks very tasty! Yay for veggie dishes!

I picked the pitcher out ONLY because it looked like Mr. Koolaid.
